Congratulations from Barry V. Qualls
Dear Rutgers Students, All of us in the Office of Undergraduate Education congratulate you on your successes this year, whether you have just completed your first year or are graduating and joining the ranks of Rutgers alumni. We hope you have had a rewarding year of exploring new ideas, making new friends, meeting new professors, and developing a "map" for your work at Rutgers and beyond. It's been an incredible year of transformation for all of us, a chance to redefine what undergraduate education can be in the context of a research university. Our focus has been on you, on creating opportunties for the intellectually curious. We have invited you to take advantage of all that Rutgers offers, and asked you to challenge your own ideas, grow, learn, and always question. Whether you are a new student or a graduate, we want you to see Rutgers as an intellectual home. We hope you have discovered something new and exciting at Rutgers during the past year. Perhaps you took a First-Year Seminar—now called the Byrne Seminars—and met a professor with whom you will continue working next year. Perhaps you participated in one of the new Learning Communities and found a small group of friends who share your interests. Perhaps you have begun to think about graduate school, are now considering applying for fellowships and scholarships to continue your education beyond the Banks of the Raritan. Perhaps Career Services helped you to connect with your new employer as you enter the workforce. Wherever you are in your Rutgers education—and wherever that education takes you—we want you to know we are proud of you, proud of your accomplishments, and we applaud your success. Have a wonderful summer, and again, congratulations! Sincerely, ![]() Barry V.
